Cross the bay to the fishing village of Halls Harbour, run the base of Cape Split's 300-foot cliffs, and tour Spencers Island from the water — the full sweep of the Fundy shore in a single afternoon.
Depart from Spencers Island and take a trip across the Bay of Fundy to the small fishing village of Halls Harbour. Get out and explore the wharf, and if you want, stop into the Halls Harbour Lobster Pound and Restaurant for a bite to eat — or pick up fresh lobster to cook later.
Next stop is Cape Split. Approaching this Bay of Fundy landmark, you feel the rush of the tides as the views open up on one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic hiking destinations, seen from the water. The sheer cliffs are untouched, 300 feet high, and preserve lava flows that erupted over 200 million years ago.
We stop at the best spots for photographs, including the base of Cape Split where you may get to say “hi” to the hikers above. The views paired with seabirds overhead will have you convinced you stepped back in time. If the tides align, you will see tidal rifts forming near the split.
On the way back, you get a full tour of Spencers Island from the water — a significant geosite within the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark. This is a day on the water you will not forget.
